Being able to influence and lead is very essential element to being successful in many areas of our lives. As such I thought I’d share a quick video post.

You’re absolutely right, Andrew. If I tell you for the next minute not to think about a red car, then immediately what pops into your head? Yep, an image of a red car. If I tell you to think about a blue car for the next minute, then you’re not going to think of the red car at all, because I’ve given you a positive instruction rather than a negative one.

As well as life coaching, I assist with coaching a kids’ karate class. We are absolutely strict with ourselves as coaches always to give positive instructions. You show the kids how they should do it, not what they are doing wrong. You tell them ‘move your arm like this’, not ‘don’t move your arm that way’. It is by far the most effective way of influencing them, and has the added side effect of being wholly positive, which has a much more beneficial effect on their positivity and confidence!

As the mom and grandmom of many, I agree with your philosophy. It hasnt worked every time, but I think the idea of putting an image of what you want done or what they want in their heads is a great incentive. I think i will purposely try it more often and see what happens…I bebeesworldwill hve to report back and see how it works!

I liked this, it reminds me of something they say in the Law of Attraction – essentially the same idea but internally to attract what you want in life. Makes sense it would work with others too! Being mindful of language is so important! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comment Benjie. I have multiple blogs for different purposes. This one is for interacting with the WordPress community :)

I agree with all the things you said and I like your blog so hopefully I will learn more than I know now by listening to your wisdom, the Lord knows I need all the wisdom that I can get.

I listened to you and your band on a different post and really enjoyed your sound. If you don’t cover R.E.M.’s Everybody Hurts y’all should think about it.

From an old hippie and music man who grew up in the true music capital of the south….Macon, Georgia.

Also thanks for following my blog. I hope I don’t disappoint.

Hey! Thank you for liking my post fellow Canadian :) I read a few of your earlier posts and I have to say I’m once again inspired to quit my job, although I know I’m inspired to do so everyday. I see that you went through the same thing when you were at that job for 18 months (not sure if you mentioned what kind of job it was) as I am right now, going on to 14 months as a financial analyst. I am constantly coming up with ideas for businesses, and even online, but I honestly have no clue where to start. How did you do it? How did you have the courage to quit and become a mortgage broker? I wouldn’t even know what to do if I were to quit…still trying to figure it out :)

    Anyway, great blog!

Interesting twist on motivation. I got me thinking about a recent transaction where I didn’t push a client for a decision. In thinking about it, I was making the decision the client couldn’t afford the house rather than allowing the client to make his own decision. Thanks for causing me to rethink my actions.

Thanks for the follow, hope I can inspire you we well.
